What Is a True Symbol of Friendship?

Friendship is a wonderful thing to have no matter how old you are. However, this is especially important for teens and young adults as friends provide conversation, support and so much more. If you are trying to forge a friendship with someone or are thinking about people whom you consider to be your friends, you may be wondering what symbolizes friendship. There are a few things to look for which truly symbolize a friendship relationship.

Easy Conversation

One of the true symbols of the relationship between friends is easy conversation. When you can get together and talk about almost anything, you are sure to be true friends. When the conversation simply flows easily from one topic to the next this can truly be a trait of friendship. Even friends who haven't seen each other for a long time may find that they jump right back into the same spot they left off and start chatting away. If you have an easy conversation with your friend this is a telltale sign of a wonderful friendship.

Attentive Listening by Both Individuals

If you find that you listen closely to what your friend has to say and they do the same for you, this is another true symbol of friendship. As listening is often more important than even talking, you will find that true friends listen closely to each other and understand what the other person is saying.

Support 24/7

Teenagers who have support for their friends 24 hours a day, 7 days a week can also be said to be true friends. If your friend knows that they can call you anytime and you will be there for them, then this symbolizes friendship as well. Also, you should be able to call your friend at a moment's notice and know that they will be right there for you to give their support. Whether you are having trouble with a girlfriend or boyfriend or having a fight with your parents, true friendship means that you have the support of that friend all the time.

Sharing Laughter and Tears

Another true symbol of friendship is the ability to share both laughter and tears with your friends. A friend is someone with whom you can laugh and cry over whether it is something extremely important or not of much consequence. Laughing and crying with friends shows that a true friendship exists as you feel comfortable with this person enough to share your special feelings with them.

Able to Have Fun with Your Friend

Lastly, a true friend is someone you can have a great time with, all the time. No matter what you are doing you can have a fun experience so long as you are with your friend. This is one of the best parts of friendship; the ability to have fun together no matter what.
